Growth Results We had difficulty following the planting advice in this plot. Extreme rains turned our plot 2 into a mud pit for most of the summer. We waited as long as we could and got a break late in August, but the ground was still quite muddy. I fertilized and limed according to the soil test. We then planned to rotary till, pack, seed, then pack again. We were only able to rotary till the top inch since it was too muddy for anything beyond that. By the time we finished our first till, it started raining again so I couldn't get a fine tillage, nor could I pack. I simply broadcast the seed right on top of the mud and expected the worst. Two weeks later the plot had emerged beautifully and kept growing into the hunting season. The plot came up exceptionally well just by broadcasting on top of the mud. |

Activity Results Activity was evident right off the bat, however as the season progressed so did the utilization. By late October and all the way through into January the plot was heavily utilized. My son Matt took our #1 from this plot as well, a 160" mainframe 12 that came in on December 1st while a dozen does were already feeding in the plot. Photo Here

Comments Given the poor planting conditions and our inability to properly install this plot, I was amazed at the germination and growth. We did have some areas of lackluster growth due to standing water but they were minor. This brassica mix contains a lot of turnips and they are a necessary component to our strategy.
