Habitat Improvement
We cleared the field of stumps. These are the black locust kind that just don't go away. I found by jacking them straight up with a floor jack, then pulling them with the tractor worked well. Some of them were there before 1992 when I bought the property. We piled them in three piles on the edge of an easement. We will encourage bramble and vine growth. The nooks and crannies should provide cover for nesting ground birds and rabbits.
Pile at the top. It is actually larger since we found more stumps
Pile midway on the easement.
Pile at the bottom. Rather than destroy them, I think this is a better conservation use. These should last decades.
