Growth Results

This was the 3rd year on this plot and it's still coming up well, however we do have weed and grass invasion and we will need to address it in year four. We did very little maintenance on this plot - and that was not by choice. The ground was far too wet to drive over. It was interesting to see how hardy the Durana would be given the lack of maintenance and drainage problems. This is a low spot that sees a lot of standing water. Most of the trees here are dead due to the wet soil conditions.

Activity Results

Utilization was satisfactory. Early spring was better before the hard rains but after a very wet July and August, and crop stress due to it - we saw utilization diminish rapidly.

Comments

While deliberate, our lack of attention turned out to be an interesting result. Unlike most of our other maintained Durana plots, this one held up well but eventually succumbed to the persistent wet soil conditions. It will be interesting to see what, if any emergent growth shows up next spring.
