Growth Results
Grandpa Ray sent me a small amount of balansa clover seed to try in a far northern climate. I tilled, packed, broadcasted and packed again to create a firm seed bed. The plot needed no lime or fertilizer. Unfortunately, this species of clover did not do well. It germinated, but the clover remained stunted and very weak. Not a total fail, but close.
Activity Results
Activity was very poor, as expected. The deer nibbled the clover, on occassion, but nearly all of my photos are showing deer walking through the plot.
Comments
I am not quite sure what went wrong, I followed standard practices for clover plots and I had good soil reports for both lime and fertilizer. I know this plot does well in the south so perhaps it's not ideal for more northern climates with strong moisture.
