Food Plot 10 Food plot 10 is a perennial food plot located next to our annual food plot 2. It is an insurance crop in case Plot 2 fails.

Blend Planted: Pennington's Rackmaster Durana Clover and Tecomate's Chicory

Utilization based on game camera survey on this crop choice + evidence of use
Planting Date July 4th
Acreage .5 (GPS measured)
Moisture Very Good
Soil Condition PH 6.0, No lime or fertilizer was applied in 2014
Plant Again? YES

Growth Results

We installed drain tile in this field and the trench went right through this area. So we tore up the ground and replanted with the same two varieties, Durana Clover and Tecomate Chicory. It came up fantastic with zero lime or fertilizer and stayed green long into November.

Activity Results

Activity was a little better than last year, but that could be due to the slow results on Plot 2 which is the main draw. We had great buck activity here but we also had a good amount of bear activity in this plot as well.

Comments

This is a perennial plot that provides variety to our bigger brassica plot 2 which is adjacent to this one. The variety provides a longer window than either plot alone. This year we laid a drainage trench down the middle of this plot and replanted. The chicory came up fast, the clover took a little longer to establish. But they are both drew deer very well, probably better than any previous year for this combination plot.
