Growth Results

After a long and wet summer we finally had a dry spell where we could plant our White Globe Purple Top Turnips. The turnips germinated well but in the following 6 weeks after germination we experienced a dry spell. that dramatically stunted the turnips during their critical growing period. This resulted in stunted leaf growth and very few turnip bulbs by hunting season.

Activity Results

Despite the poor growth results, deer activity was incredible during the late season. Absolutely amazing utilization for a crippled plot.

Our deer go crazy over turnips. They are easy to grow and typically provide a top nutrition source long after snows hit. Unfortunately, I had to wait for the soil to dry out before I could plant and then we experienced a dry spell. Growth was 50% what we normally achieve. But what did come up drew deer in droves - and that lasted long into the winter.
